A government employee’s strange act of draining lakhs of liters of water to rescue an expensive cell phone that fell into a reservoir has stunned everyone.
Rajesh Vishwas, who was working as a food inspector in Koyalipeda area of Chhattisgarh state, went to Kergata Paralkot reservoir with his friends. Then, unexpectedly, his cell phone worth one lakh rupees is said to have fallen into 15 feet deep water.
Rajesh, who consulted with the officials of the irrigation department to recover the cell phone, pumped several lakh liters of water for irrigation with a 30 HP motor for the last 3 days.
An investigation was conducted after a complaint was filed regarding the recovery of the employee’s cell phone after draining water that should have been used for about 1,500 acres of land. Rajesh explained that the cell phone contained important government information and that he had obtained permission to discharge water that was not used for irrigation. After this, the District Collector of Kanker ordered to remove Rajesh from his post.
