Moscow: The head of the Russian oil company Lukoil Ravil Magnov died after falling from a hospital window. The company confirmed Magnov’s death but said in a press release that he died of a serious illness.

But Russian media reports that Magnov, who was being treated at the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow, died of his injuries. Magnov is the latest of several high-profile business executives to die under mysterious circumstances in Russia.

Russian agencies say the investigation into Magnov’s death is ongoing and no further details are available. Tassa news agency reported that Magnov fell from the sixth floor window of the hospital.

The board of directors of Lukoil had earlier demanded an end to the occupation of Ukraine as soon as possible. The company’s president, Vagit Alekperov, resigned in April after the U.K. imposed sanctions. Several prominent figures in the Russian energy business have died under mysterious circumstances in recent months.

Billionaire Novatek former manager Sergey Protoseni was found dead in a Spanish villa with his wife and daughter in April. Former Vice President of Gazprombank Vladislav Avayev was also found dead in his Moscow apartment with his wife and daughter. In May, former Lukoil tycoon Alexander Zubotin died of heart failure.
