Agartala, April 24 (Language) The intense campaign for Tripura East Lok Sabha seat came to an end on Wednesday.
Nine candidates, including Kriti Devi Debbarman of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rajendra Reang of Communist Party of India (Marxist) are in the fray for this seat on April 26.
The BJP-Tipra Motha-IPFT alliance and the CPI(M)-led ‘India’ alliance held election rallies, road shows and door-to-door campaigning.
Chief Minister Manik Saha addressed a huge rally at Asharambadi in Khowai district and urged people to vote for BJP candidate Kriti Devi Debbarman to strengthen the hand of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The BJP has fielded Kriti Devi Debbarman, sister of Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, against ‘India’ alliance candidate and former CPI(M) MLA Rajendra Reang.
A total of nine candidates are in the fray, but the main contest is believed to be between Debbarman and Reang.
A total of 14.21 lakh voters in Tripura, including 7.28 lakh male and 6.93 female voters, are eligible to vote on April 26.
